In response to the World Book Day on 23rd<\/sup> April, GEGCLEAR participated in the \u201cChillax Book Caf\u00e9\u201d activity organized by USJ Library. Activities included co-reading demonstration workshops and co-reading spaces, in which close to 80 families participated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first co-reading demonstration workshops ever organized by GEGCLEAR received enthusiastic response, where quotas for all three sessions were filled. Miss Lei Wai Man, director of the Chinese Kindergarten Section of Col\u00e9gio Santa Rosa de Lima<\/em> and instructor of the workshop, was pleased to see the active participation of both parents and children. Instructor Wong Mei Ian from Macau Baptist College observed that parents were concentrated in the discussion of co-reading skills, and was delighted to see that the workshop benefited both parents and children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The emphasize of co-reading was also shared by GEGCLEAR\u2019s Co-Principle Investigator Dr. Chi Kuan Mak, which was echoed by the attending parents that comparing to storytelling activities, less were told about the methods of co-reading. They suggested that identical workshops could be organized in the near future, allowing parents to grasp the skills when reading with their children.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

GEGCLEAR is funded by the Galaxy Entertainment Group and implemented by DLCRE, with the aim to promote the early Chinese literacy in Macau. It hopes to foster the professional development of teachers and the consolidation of kindergarteners\u2019 Chinese Literacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
