“My research interests lie primarily in the area of promoting child and family well-being. I am a Principle Investigator on the project of \u201cThe Needs of Different Stages of Marriage and Family Life Course in Macao & Family\u201d with The Macau Catholic Family Advisory Council. The project investigates the developmental tasks, adjustments to the different stages in their family life cycle, so as to identify the social services in the marriage and family sector which may help in the transition from one stage to the other.\u00a0 I am also interested to promote relevant and useful research and in working together with Coloane Prison contributing to the establishment of quality and effective services of the outreach programme. Moreover, I would like to see how support the reintegration of offenders into the community and which factors protect them from developing stress-related mental disorders after they are released.”<\/span><\/em><\/p>\r\n

Research related to the USJ Prison Outreach Programme illustrates how inmates adapt to adverse life circumstances and stress, and which factors protect them from developing stress-related mental disorders. Oftentimes, stressors differ a lot from person to person. However, the USJ Prison Outreach programme is currently affecting or had been affecting the lives of inmates in Macao and offers the opportunity to investigate which strategies are helpful in overcoming such big challenges.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

This two-part volume details the outcomes of the research project, <\/b>The section in Part A - Interventions for Inmates Returning to the Community:\u00a0 Teaching-Dialogue paths with the community. <\/span>Some interventions such as the implementation of social work outreach program we have prepared before inmates released and see whether the interventions work.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

The section in Part B - A Literature Review \u2013 summarizes recent theory and research related to the delivery of the outreach program and supports to inmates who had attended the outreach program. It also broadly characterizes Macao inmates to establish if they face the same post-release challenges that research has identified as confronting prisoners in overseas jurisdictions. 3 objectives in this study as below:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

      The purpose of this research is to plan and design social or pastoral services to meet the needs relating to a healthy family life. In addition, the findings of this study provide suggestions and directions to design family life education, premarital preparation and continual marital accompaniment.\u00a0 In doing so, the project investigates the developmental tasks, adjustments to the different stages in their family life cycle, so as to identify the social services in the marriage and family sector which may help in the transition from one stage to the other. 7 objectives in this study as below:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n

      1. To understand the general needs of the family at difference stages of family life in Macao from social and religious (Catholic\/Christian) perspectives.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t
      2. To explore the unmet needs families may have in the different stages of family development.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t
      3. To seek opinions from the general population how to meet their unmet needs from a social and or religious perspective.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t
      4.
